Exodus 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
In Matthew 6 Jesus tells us the manner in which would should pray. In verse 11 he says “Give us this day our daily bread”
In John 6:48 he tells says “I am that bread of life.”
In Matthew 6:34 he tells us “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Each day, God gives us all that we need to overcome that day. Don’t worry about tomorrow. He has provided enough for today. Not only food that we may eat but enough of his spirit that we may do all that he has commanded.
The Israelites going out for bread everyday was a symbol of what was to come. Because of what Jesus Christ did, we now go to God daily to be fed by his word.
“…It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” Matthew 4:4
I remember discussing this with my best friend and I don’t think I’ll ever forget what he said. “Yes it’s just like being thirsty and seeing a pipe but if we don’t go to the pipe and turn it on we won’t get the water to quench our thirst”.
My prayer is that we find the strength to keeping going to God so that we may be filled with his word to overcome each day.
